Overview
On August 7-10, 2000, Assemblies of God believers from around
the world will gather in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA for the Third
Triennial World Assemblies of God Congress and 2000 Celebration.
The purposes: to gather as a worldwide
family to celebrate, consecrate and commission a united vision
for the 21st century. A gathering of this magnitude has never been
attempted in North America. 65,000 lay people, pastors, missionaries,
and international delegates from more than 88 countries of the world
are expected to gather in one place at one time.
Letter from David Yonggi Cho
Chairman, World Assemblies of God Fellowship
Letter from Thomas E. Trask
General Superintendent, Assemblies of God USA
The Assemblies of God has 30 million members worldwide and is
the largest Pentecostal Fellowship in the world.
This joint event has been described as a time for the entire Assemblies
of God family to gather together to thank God for His great grace
in the past and present; and ask for His blessing in the future.
Leaders of the worldwide fellowship feel there is no greater time
to celebrate what the Lord has done through the Assemblies of God,
to renew the commitment of completing the Great Commission, and
to make intercession for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the
new millennium. The prayer is that the Lord of the Harvest will
make this sacred gathering an epicenter for the outpouring of His
Spirit upon the His Church worldwide.
Such a prayer for the Holy Spirit's outpouring reflects the earliest
heritage of the Assemblies of God. The 20th century began with an
outpouring of the Holy Spirit resulting in the worldwide Pentecostal
Movement; and an integral part of the Pentecostal Movement is the
Assemblies of God, formed in 1914 with 300 delegates.
At the dawn of a new century and a new millennium we are seeking
a fresh Pentecost poured out as the Assemblies of God comes all
together at one time in one place from the nations of this earth
in the most international gathering ever witnessed by this Church.
