2000 Celebration

Celebrating what God has done and will do through the Assemblies of God, the 2000 Celebration, in conjunction with the third Triennial World Assemblies of God Fellowship World Congress, will bring Assemblies of God constituents from across the globe together in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, August 7-10, 2000.

The Celebration has been described as a time for the entire Assemblies of God family to gather together to thank God for His grace in the past and present; and to ask for His blessing in the future.

According to Rev. Thomas Trask, general superintendent of the Assemblies of God in the United States, the event will also be an opportunity to unfold a fresh vision for the church. "It is my firm conviction that God has put in the hearts of our church leaders and congregations a vision for ministry in the new millennium. God is calling our Fellowship to be and do things beyond what we can even imagine," Trask said.

The 2000 Celebration will also allow church members from around the world to interact with one another. This is an unparalleled opportunity for Assemblies of God believers to meet each other. For many, this may be the only opportunity in their life to meet outside of heaven.

The power-packed event will feature worship, testimonies, brief messages, videos, music and drama. During this sacred assembly, we will seek God around the altars and experience a fresh Pentecost for the 21st century. We believe every person will encounter God in a powerful, life-changing way during these brief days together.

Parade of Nations
Tuesday evening (August 8), the Celebration will feature pageantry as the Parade of Nations displays evidence of God's faithfulness to this worldwide church. Leaders from many foreign countries and missionaries from 158 nations as well as the United States will open the gathering. You won't want to miss this time of rejoicing as we celebrate what God is doing around the world through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Drama
The Touch Felt Round the World, a powerful musical drama, recalls the great Azusa Street revival at the turn of the 20th century that catapulted the world into the century of Pentecost. This drama will bring rejoicing for what God did then and a heartfelt cry for Him to do it again as we enter the 21st century. This musical highlights the opening night of the 2000 Celebration.

Pentecostal Music
Exuberant, lively music has been a hallmark of Pentecostal worship for nearly a century. It still is. A 5000-voice choir heads the list of outstanding music. Choirs, orchestras, soloists, and ensembles from around the world will blend their voices and talents with the thousands inside the RCA Dome in praise and worship to God.

Worldwide Prayermeeting
Another characteristic of Pentecostal Christians is their fervency in prayer. Time will be given in each service for prayer and waiting on God. Wednesday will begin with a Worldwide Prayer Meeting. Thomas E. Trask, US general superintendent, will lead the meeting and David Yonggi Cho will be the featured speaker. The focus of the session will be praying for needs from each region of the world, as well as the United States. We sense a tremendous urgency to hear from God. Our world is experiencing a crisis of the spirit that belies human answers. Only God through the power of the Holy Spirit can breathe life into His Church. As we seek Him together He will empower and change us into vessels He can use.
