Assemblies of God USA
Who we are
People! That's the story of the Assemblies of God. Over 2.5 million
people worship every week in one of nearly 12,000 Assemblies of
God churches in the United States of America.
Young and old, married and single, parents and children, people
from all walks of life, of every color and many different languages-they
have one thing in common, a desire to serve God and share His blessings
with still other people.
The Assemblies of God is people who believe in the God of the
Bible, and believe He is moving in today's world.
Currently the Assemblies of God USA and Assemblies of God organizations
around the world make up the world's largest Pentecostal denomination
with some 32 million members and adherents. But numbers fail to
tell the real story, and statistics can never meet human needs.
People who need help in coming to know God, have problems in their
home, or are troubled by any of a multitude of other things that
keep people from being happy and fulfilled, need someone who cares.
And that's the message of our Fellowship. Because Jesus cares
for people, the Assemblies of God is people who care about each
other.
Our Mission
The Assemblies of God is committed to fulfilling a threefold mission.
Its primary reason for being is:
- To be an agency of God for evangelizing the world
- To be a corporate body in which man may worship God
- To be a channel of God's purpose to build a body of saints
being perfected in the image of His Son.
We exist to serve God in worship and work, to serve the world
in evangelism and compassion, and to serve the church in fellowship,
instruction, inspiration, and mutual assistance.
Our Vision
God is at work among us. Before us is the greatest opportunity in
the history of the Assemblies of God. We have more people, more
open doors, and more resources than ever before. We must seize this
moment in faith and with renewed commitment. We stand upon the shoulders
of our founders who believed they were called to reach the entire
world. We must see the world as they saw it lost, but loved
by God. We must move forward with renewed dependency upon the Holy
Spirit to accomplish the Great Commission.
The Assemblies of God launches into the 21st century with unshakable
faith in a Sovereign God; unwavering commitment to tell the world
about Jesus; and eager anticipation for the day when the Lord returns
for a Church without spot or wrinkle. To this end, the Assemblies
of God family around the world will gather August 7-10, 2000, in
Indianapolis, Indiana, to celebrate the past and rededicate ourselves
to the unfinished task He gave His disciples . . .until He comes.
