History
of the Assemblies of God in the Czech Republic
By the 1920Ős there were groups of
Pentecostal believers in several cities that united to become the
Resolute Christian Fellowship. But Nazi occupation of the country
and Communist rule began to change things. The Pentecostals were
forced to go underground and keep gatherings secret. The church
leaders were persecuted and imprisoned because they tried to found
a legal Pentecostal church. This was a dark time for the movement
and many Christians strayed as a result of having no leadership.
The Church once again began to
flourish as different cities began to band together and called themselves
the Pentecostal Resolute Christians. This church consisted mostly
of the common people. But as more people joined, the printing of
literature was organized and in 1977 they were officially registered
as the Pentecostal Church. At that time the church movement had
170 members.
