History
of the Assemblies of God in Hungary
In 1921 a Hungarian Pentecostal woman
named Mrs. Jozsef Szalai, who was living in Cleveland, Ohio, returned
to Hungary with her husband to preach the Pentecostal message to
the people of her homeland. She was among many other early pioneers
in this movement such as Imre Mihok, Gyorgy Farago, David Rahohaek,
Istvan Saroky and Jozsef Fabian.
The official founding meeting of
the Hungarian Pentecostal Movement as an organization was held in
1928 in Budapest. Nine churches were represented with a total of
36 delegates.
