History
of the Assemblies of God in the Netherlands
Although the Netherlands has had moments
of glory as a Christian nation, the society has now become decadent.
The dramatic decline of the number of Christians in this generation
and the openly permissive society that is replacing it has led to
deterioration. Today there are few restrictions on drugs, deviant
life styles, prostitution, homosexuality, abortion, and euthanasia.
Protestant churches are in decline, having moved from 61% of the
population in 1900 to the current 28.3%. The exchange of biblical
vision for evangelism and missions in favor of freethinking liberalism,
pluralism and secularism has brought on this decline. The Catholic
Church has also become very liberal, resulting in fewer priests,
missionaries, and members.
