History
of the Assemblies of God in Singapore
The first Assemblies of God missionaries
to Singapore reached this land in 1926. By 1928 they were meeting
with a group of Cantonese-speaking Chinese in a thatched-roof chapel
in Balestier Plain. Shortly afterward, they began services with
English-speaking people.
In 1941, at the onset of World War
II, all the missionaries were evacuated. On their return after the
war, they found that the work had suffered. Little by little, these
missionaries, together with others who came to help, were able to
build up the work and open new missions.
