Free registration for
the Third Triennial World Assemblies of God Congress and 2000 Celebration,
August 7-10, 2000 is now available online at 2000.agcongress.org,
the official web site of the worldwide gathering.
In exchange for having the regular $15 registration fee waived,
registrants agree to answer a short online survey and accept e-mail
regarding the gathering. The offer is only available online and
requires a unique e-mail address for each free registration.
The web site also allows visitors to reserve housing online through
a link to the Indianapolis Housing Bureau's online reservation system.
Forms for both the event registration and hotel reservations can
also be downloaded from the site and mailed or faxed.
Site visitors will find more than just registration and housing
information at the site. Juleen Turnage, public relations director,
says the goal has been to create an informative, content-rich site
for event participants. "We are working hard to create a centralized
point for all news and information so that fellowship leaders and
event participants alike will be able to access the information
they need," Turnage says. Brett Risner, web site project manager,
adds that as the event gets closer he expects new content to be
posted regularly. "The Internet is the most efficient and cost-effective
way to reach the worldwide audience that will participate in this
gathering. As news and information becomes available we can upload
it to the site and within minutes it's available to everyone."
While the emphasis is to focus church leaders and lay people to
the web site, traditional means of communication will not be abandoned.
"We really see the Web as one more tool in our toolbox and not a
replacement for more traditional means of communication like newsletters,
printed registration forms and news releases," Risner says. In addition
to registration and event news, visitors can also read about the
World Assemblies of God Fellowship, Kids Congress events, the latest
schedule of events and other helpful resources like maps and travel
information. There is also a list of frequently asked questions,
a search function to help you locate a news or feature story that
may answer your questions, and contact information if your questions
are still not resolved.
Risner says site visitors can expect to see other developments
in the near future including audio and video downloads of promotional
materials, and a press relations area for local, national, and international
media. During the gathering, news will be reported on-site and uploaded
daily for those unable to attend the event.
The Third Triennial World Assemblies of God Congress and 2000 Celebration,
will be an international gathering of the Assemblies of God August
7-10, 2000 in Indianapolis, Ind. This will be the first international
gathering of this magnitude in North America. Event planners expect
50,000 participants, including delegates from 100 foreign countries.
