McManus

of National Ministerial/Leadership Institutes
As senior pastor of First Assembly of God, in Winston Salem,
North Carolina for over 16 years, Dr. McManus watched his
congregation grow from 350 to over 3,000 members. A strong
and effective leader, he has also served as an executive presbyter
for the Assemblies of God, is a member of the Board of Directors
of the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, and is former
assistant superintendent of the North Carolina District.
Born in New Orleans, McManus grew up in Louisiana and
Alabama. He graduated from Southeastern College and earned
an M.A. in Biblical studies from the Assemblies of God Theological
Seminary. He completed his D.Min. at Erskine Seminary.
Dr. McManus began his ministry as a youth pastor/Christian
education director in Mobile, Ala. in 1969. He was ordained
by the Alabama District in 1972. He later joined the staff
of Bethel Church in San Jose, Calif., as an associate for
one year before moving to the Assemblies of God headquarters
as a youth specialist/workers training coordinator in the
Sunday School Department.
Dr. McManus serves as President of EQUIP. Encouraging Qualities
Undeveloped in People, a not-for-profit Christian organization
in Atlanta, Georgia, founded by Dr. John Maxwell.
Dr. McManus has spoken and conducted seminars throughout
the United States as well as in Europe, South Korea, India,
Singapore and Latin America. He has a heart for the community
and a passion for leadership training.
McManus and his wife, Joan, have two sons.
